Our 11 Steps for Sustainability
For over 70 years, we’ve known that local, small-scale production is the key to making quality products equitably and sustainably. Sustainability is a natural part of everything we do. Our efforts to leave a minimal mark on our planet can be summarized in the following eleven steps.
Local Production
N°1All of our products are produced by skilled workers in our own factory in Nybro, Småland, in southern Sweden, using only premium materials and local suppliers. We call it "Handmade in Småland."
Product Quality
N°2We want our products to last for generations, in order to minimize environmental impact. This is why we only produce our products at the highest quality, designed for a long life.
Local Suppliers
N°3Since the beginning our ambition has been to work closely with local supply of components and materials. We reach 80% of our suppliers within a two-hour drive.
Honest Materials
N°4We are selective with our materials. We only work with premium “honest materials,” such as copper, brass, steel, glass, leather, and wool.
Ambitious Owners
N°5Our owner has a personal interest in and commitment to sustainability. We are independent from any external ownership and make our own decisions.
Timeless Design
N°6Our design lasts generations. In combination with highest quality, our products are designed for many years of use, meaning less impact on our environment.
Repair and Reuse
N°7We design our products for a long lifetime. But if something happens, they are also designed for easy repair and a new life. Long lifetime = less environmental impact.
Designed for Dismantling
N°8Even though our products are designed for a long life, all things must eventually come to an end. When it is time to scrap your light, it is designed to be easily dismantled and recycled.
Upcycled
N°9We take care of the waste material and leftovers generated in our production, and use it to design and produce new products.
Recycling
N°1099% of the waste generated by our production, that we don't use for upcycling, is collected and recycled.
Solar-Powered
N°11Our latest investment in the environment is solar panels on our factory roof. We produce the electricity we need for production, offices, and cars.
